William "Farmer Bill" Briggs Obituary

CHICHESTER – William P. “Farmer Bill” Briggs, 75, of Chichester, passed away on Tuesday, May 9, 2023 at Concord Hospital following a period of declining health.

Born on September 13, 1947 in Fall River, MA, he was the son of the late Barclay Briggs, Sr. and Anna M. (DeCastro) Briggs. William was raised and educated in Rhode Island and during his eighth-grade year his family moved to New Hampshire.

Never one to sit back and be idle, William joined the NH Air National Guard Reserves right out of High School, serving in Vietnam. Farmer Bill was the epitome of hard work and perseverance; he could be found up to the end working on the farm whether breeding his Charolais Cattle or out in his hayfields where he was at his happiest. He was a collector of many things and also enjoyed Bee Keeping.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a son Glenn Briggs and a brother, Barclay Briggs, Jr.

He is survived by his wife Suzanne (St. Germain) Briggs of Concord, daughter, Kimberly McCabe and her husband Joshua of Henniker, siblings, Gregory Briggs of OR, Susan Wallace and her husband Alfred of Londonderry, Cherie Sanborn and her husband Charles of Deerfield, Linda Boyden of Deerfield and Daniel Briggs and his wife Meredith of Deerfield, one granddaughter, Sierra, his dog Muffin as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and acquaintances, he never went anywhere that someone didn’t know him.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Farmer Bill will be laid to rest at the Briggs Family Cemetery near the old family farm in Deerfield, where he can keep an eye on the farm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. The Roan Family Funeral Home in Pembroke is assisting the family with arrangements.
