PITTSFIELD- Mr. Thomas E. Drew, 79, of Pittsfield, passed away peacefully surrounded by his daughters on August 24, 2023.
Born in Concord, and raised in Chichester NH, Tom was the son of the late Clarence and Elsie (Wilson) Drew. After school, Tom enlisted in the United States Army and served his country during the Korean War. After returning from military duty, he worked in and around NH as a mechanic at Grappone Ford, and various construction companies, running and repairing heavy equipment until he was employed at the NHDOT as a plow driver, advancing to grader operator, travelling all around NH and some other states keeping the roads safe for 30 years.
He won the NH vehicle safety award in 1978, and NHDOT district 5 plow rally in 1980 and 1983. Prior to his retirement, Tom was a foreman for Canterbury Shed 525, District 5 New Hampshire Dept. of Transportation.
He was a member of the American Legion Post 31 in Penacook NH and Post 273 in McGregor, TX. He loved hunting, fishing and camping with his children and grandchildren . After retirement, he and wife Betty toured the country seeing all they wanted in almost every state in their 5th wheel camper.
He was predeceased by his wife, Betty (Bowen) Drew and his sister Susan Sawyer.
Tom is survived by his children: Traci Weber and her husband Henry of Meredith, Tonya Phillips and her husband Andy of Pittsfield, Tammy Scott, Kathy Lovering of Maine, Scott Hooper of Penacook, and Tracie Bakios and her husband Ron of Texas. He was the grandfather to Brandon Weber and his wife Hope, Kyia King and her husband Josh, Jillian Taylor and her partner TJ Lambert, Leah Scott, Ryan Scott, Jessica LeClair, Brad LeClair and his wife Katrina, Amanda Perry and her husband Derek, Jacob Hooper and fiancé Marissa, and Sarah Bakios. He was the great grandfather to Ian, Abbie, Haylee, Zoey, Elliott, Eloise, Miles, Brynlee, Kenton and Rooney. Tom is also survived by his brother Donald Drew of Nevada and sisters, Barbara Diamond of Concord, Nancy Knowlton of Manchester, and June Bean of Maine as well as many nieces and nephews.
In accordance with his wishes, burial will take place privately at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.
