Terrance & Margery Houle Obituary

CHICHESTER- Mr. and Mrs. Terrance A. and Margery W. (Walker) Houle are reunited once again.  Terry passed away on January 4, 2023 and Marge passed away on January 16, 2023, after periods of declining health.

Having both been born in Concord, Terry was the son of the late Arthur and Alleen (Dow) Houle and Marge was the daughter of the late Raymond and Ruth (Hubert) Walker.  They were raised and educated in Concord and were graduates of Concord High School.  Following High School, Terry enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged as a SO G2, after serving on the USS J Douglas Blackwood.

High school sweethearts, Terry and Marge were married on September 12, 1953 and shared nearly 70 years of marriage.

Prior to his retirement, Terry was Vice President and Secretary of the Board of Directors at Concord Group Insurance Company.  Marge remained at home with their children and in later years, worked as a proofreader.

Terry and Marge were active members of the Lions and Lioness Clubs for many years, including the state level.  They enjoyed many trips to their camp on Little Kennebago and found great pleasure in fly fishing.  Marge took the time to make sure all the children knew how to fly fish and Terry was the master fly-tyer.  Terry, an avid sportsman, was also a gifted woodworker, completing the finish work on his home as well as making toy boxes for his grandchildren. Marge, an avid gardener, made sure to share that passion with her family.

Terry and Marge were predeceased by their sons, Timothy A. Houle and Thomas W. “Houly” Houle and three grandchildren, Monica, Aaron and Allison Houle.  Terry was also predeceased by two siblings: Morton Houle and Sally Walker.

They are survived by their daughter, Jean Richards and her husband Albert of Concord; their son, Ray Houle and his wife Lu of Chichester; four grandchildren, Sarah Christie and her husband James, Rebecca Richards and her partner Keith Wallace, Rachel Smith and her husband Dan,  and Amanda Wood and her husband Brendan; seven great grandchildren, Gwen, Connor, Tori, Lily, Mason, Ryder and Malcolm and many nieces and nephews.  Marge is also survived by her sister, Susan Lewis of Texas.

A Celebration of Their Lives will be held on Saturday, January 28 at 11A.M. in the East Congregational Church, 51 Mountain Rd. in Concord.  Burial will take place at a later date at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, donations in their memory may be sent to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, 2361 Hylan Boulevard, Staten Island, New York 10306 or to East Congregational Church.  Assisting the family with arrangements is The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel of Epsom.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com
