Shelby Edward Weston, 55, died in his sleep at his home in Concord in the early morning hours of July 13, 2023.
Born November 6, 1965, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Shelby first came to New Hampshire's capitol city in the late '80s to open a pizza shop. After bouncing between here and Tulsa for more than 20 years, he settled in Concord in 2010. He didn't shy away from hard work or physical labor, most often working in auto repair and landscaping over the years.
With a thick Southern drawl, a background in cattle-roping and a love for country music, Shelby was a cowboy to the bone who answered questions with "yes ma'am" and "no sir." He enjoyed decorating his home for the holidays, and he loved watching football, rarely seen without a Tulsa hat or Sooners shirt.
Shelby was not a man without fault; he was unapologetically himself, but he was also compassionate and generous. Despite his own struggles, Shelby was always genuinely concerned about the wellbeing of others, be them friends or strangers. He was affable and enjoyed interrupting tense discussion with light-hearted banter, and you couldn't help but laugh along with him. Shelby was a hoot, to say the least, and he is deeply missed by many.
He is survived by his adult son, Andrew Weston, in Oklahoma; his adult daughter, Skye Hodge, in Concord; and two grandchildren.
A small service to honor Shelby's life will be held Wednesday, August 16, at 1 p.m. at Centerpoint Church in Concord, NH.
