Rose M. Currier, a beloved mother, grandmother, and friend to many, passed away on May 8, 2023, at the age of 81, surrounded by her children at the Granite VNA Hospice House in New Hampshire after a period of declining health. Rose was born in New Haven, CT, on May 30, 1941, to the late John Distadio and Antoinette (Mitchell) Counter.
Rose dedicated many years of her life to serving children and education. She worked for the Allenstown School District in the elementary school and co-founded The Peace of Mind After School Program, which she ran for over 25 years. Her kindness and devotion to children touched the lives of many.
In her free time, Rose enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Charlie, and spending time with family and friends. She had a green thumb and took pride in her beautiful flower garden. Rose will be missed by all who knew her, especially her children, Kevin Currier and his wife Mary of Canton, GA, Suzanne Theroux and her husband René of Litchfield, and Kellie Bassett and her husband Moe of Pembroke.
Rose was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Charles “Charlie” Currier, a son, Scott Currier, and a sister, Beverly Bernard. She is survived by her sister, Terri Niemir and her husband Chris of Florida, as well as her beloved grandchildren, Keegan Currier, Caitlin Currier, Dylan Gatta and husband Joseph, Marley Andrade and husband Hector, Adam Bassett, Marissa McGahan and husband Colin, and Reed Bassett. She was also a great grandmother to Asa Adcock, Penelope and Prudence McGahan, Zoey and Charlie Gatta. Her best friends, David and Judy Lewis of Concord, and godchildren, Sheryl Bernard, Lindsay Heath, and Brian Bernard, will also miss her deeply.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, from 5PM-7PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2022, at 10AM at St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown.
