EPSOM- Mr. Robert E. Miner, 89, of Epsom, passed away on March 30, 2021 at the Hope Hospice in Providence, RI following a period of declining health.
Born in St. Johnsbury, VT, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Bernice Frances May (Gauthier) Miner. Bob was raised and educated in Epsom and resided there for most of his life. He was a graduate of Concord High School and enlisted in the United States Army. He was especially proud of his distinguished service to his country during the Korean Conflict as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, nicknamed “The Screaming Eagles.” Following his honorable discharge, Bob and his brother Chuck were founding members of The American Legion Elwood O. Wells Post #112 in Epsom.
Prior to his retirement, Bob managed the Merrimack Farmers Exchange for over 25 years and also delivered to many of the area farms. He later worked as a crew foreman for National Fence & Granite, Inc.
Dedicated to his community, Bob was the longtime manager and catcher for the Epsom Town Baseball Team, instrumental in aiding many of his players to attain scholarships. He also single-handedly rebuilt many of the snowmobile trails and bridges in the town of Epsom.
An avid outdoorsman, Bob enjoyed hunting, fishing and trapping and especially snowmobiling. He was a member of the Fort Mountain Trailwinders Snowmobile Club. He enjoyed many winters in Lake Placid FL with his late wife as well as summer trips to Old Orchard Beach ME and winter trips to Pittsburg NH.
Bob had an overwhelming love for his family and country. He will always be well-loved and leaves behind a proud and lasting legacy of a life well-lived.
He was predeceased by his wife, Beverly J. (Osgood) Miner and his brothers, Charles R. Miner, Sr. and his late wife Margaret and David Miner.
Bob is survived by his three daughters: Laurie A. Miner of RI, Connie Miner and Samuel Montague, and Amy Worster and her husband Donald. He was the proud grandfather to Harrison, Griffin and Sophie Worster. He also leaves his sister-in-law, Gloria Hartgen as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Relatives and friends are invited to safely greet the family on Tuesday, April 6th from 11:15AM-12:00PM in McClary Cemetery on Center Hill Rd. in Epsom. Military Honors will follow at 12:00PM. In accordance with state and local guidelines, all attendees must wear face-coverings, adhere to social distancing as directed and are respectfully asked for no physical contact.
