CENTER BARNSTEAD - Mr. Robert J. McTigue, 86, of Center Barnstead, NH passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love of his family on July 25, 2020.

Born in Ayer, MA, Bob was the son of the late John William and Rachel Gertrude (Ryan) McTigue.  He was raised and educated in Harvard, MA where he helped his parent run the Harvard Inn from 1946 to 1950.  Bob graduated from Wilbraham Academy and subsequently enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country from 1950 to 1956.  He later obtained his Master’s Degree in Education from Northeastern University and began teaching woodworking in Old Town, ME. Bob worked most of his professional career with East Coast Aero Technical School in administration and retired as its Director after 29 years.  Toward the end of his career, Bob and his wife Faith became Innkeepers establishing the Captain Folsom Inn in Greenland, NH.  Following his retirement, Bob continued to work for S&S Delivery, transporting aviation parts for General Electric.  Bob obtained his pilot license and enjoyed flying, woodworking, wooden boats, sailing, motorcycles and traveling with Faith in his Airstream. 

Bob was predeceased by his first wife of 22 years, Gloria (Northrup) McTigue and his stepson Duane Coventry.  He is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Faith (Fairchild) McTigue; his 4 children, Bonnie L. Ostrowski and her husband Michael of Kennebunk, ME, John W. McTigue and his wife Doreen of Rockport, MA, Holly Descoteaux and her husband John of Stoughton, MA, Tamara M. Record and her husband David of Townsend, MA and his 3 stepchildren Dianne Coventry McCormick and her husband Scott of Epsom, NH, Deborah Hawthorne and David Coventry of CT.  He is also survived by his grandchildren: Johnathan May, Jennifer May, Gloria Descoteaux, Steven Descoteaux, Rachel Record, Joshua, James, David, Lauren, Elana, Ryan, Jennifer, Hannah, Ashley, Geoffrey, Preston and Mary) and great-grandchildren (Kali, Madden, Aubrey, Kyle and Payton).

A Celebration of His Life will be held outside (weather permitting) at his home at 166 Pitman Road, Center Barnstead, NH on September 5, 2020 from 1 to 4 P.M.  Assisting the family with arrangements is the Still Oaks Funeral & Memorial Home in Epsom.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.stilloaks.com.
