CONCORD – Peter Ulmanis, 75, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, April 6, 2023 at Concord Hospital following many health complications.
Peter was born on September 27, 1947 in Bad Rehburg, Germany, the son of the late Elmars and Vaike (Soans) Ulmanis. At the age of 2, Peter arrived at Ellis Island with his family and went on to make many cherished memories here in the United States.
Peter was a graduate of Laconia High School and went on to earn a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Franklin Pierce College. He served his country in the United States Air Force during Vietnam until his honorable discharge in 1966. Peter worked as a programmer with the State of New Hampshire, Office of IT for over 25 years until his retirement.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed taking long rides on his motorcycle but then met the love of his life, Debra (Boisvert) Ulmanis while helping a friend with the Community Theater for the Concord Community Players. The rest was history. He found joy and comfort in watching woodworking videos with hopes of some day picking up this hobby.
Peter was an active communicant of the former Sacred Heart Parish in Concord, where he taught CCD, was a lector as well as a volunteer for the annual penny sale.
He is survived by his wife, Debra (Boisvert) Ulmanis of Concord, with whom he shared 46 years of marriage; daughter, Stacey Ulmanis and her fiancé, Joe Hanley of Concord; son, Karl Ulmanis and his wife, Laura Slingerland of Lexington Park, MD as well as several cousins.
The family would like to thank the teams in the ICU and 6 South for their wonderful care of Peter. A special thank you to all of the wonderful nurses from Granite VNA for their incredible care of him for several years.
