EPSOM – Lt. Bruce Porter, 70, of Epsom, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 10, 2023 with his wife by his side.
He was born in Framingham, MA on December 24, 1952, son of the late Lawrence and Dorothy (Wardell) Porter.
Bruce was a graduate of New England College in Henniker, earning his Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, He had over 42 years in Fire service, starting in a volunteer role with Epsom Fire Department in 1981 and finishing with the rank of Lieutenant, he served the City of Concord as a full-time firefighter for over 20 years as well the emergency management director for a period of time. A man of many talents, he enjoyed sharing them with others, Bruce was very involved with the Fire Explorers program, was a certified diver and taught diving for many years. Bruce was a licensed boat captain and a commercial lobster and tuna fisherman. He was marksman, a member of the Sunset Mountain Fish and Game Club. He was also an active Hog Member with Harley Davidson and truly enjoyed riding.
He is survived by his wife Janet (Tucker) Porter of Epsom with whom he shared over 40 years of marriage, brothers, Paul Porter and his wife Jan and Jay Porter, nephews, Brian and Rob and a niece, Jaclyn as well as numerous friends and colleagues through the years.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, April 16, 2023 from 11am-2pm at the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom. A brief service will be held in the funeral home beginning at 1:30pm and all are welcome to the Epsom Fire House immediately following for a light luncheon and to share memories.
