Lotte Moody Obituary

LOUDON- Lotte Moody passed away on Wednesday, March 20th at 101 years old.

Lotte was born in Dürrwangen, Germany on February 17th, 1923 to Franz and Bertha Schenk, the second of four siblings. After losing her father when she was 13, Lotte moved to Nürnberg with her family. Growing up during World War II taught her how to cook and craft anything from very little, a mastery she’d display for the rest of her life.

After the death of her first husband Rolf Wach, Lotte married Edward Moody and moved to the United States in 1948. She spent most of the remainder of her life on her farm in Loudon. She took great pride in being a dedicated wife and mother to her five children, and nothing brought her more joy than sharing her love through food. Always an open home for friends and family to drop in, her favorite moments were spent gathered around the kitchen table with those she loved drinking coffee and sharing her endless supply of homemade meals and treats.

A nature lover with an inability to sit still, there was rarely a day you wouldn’t find Lotte outside feeding the chickens, blueberrying by the river, or maintaining her large field well into her 90’s.  She was a lifetime enthusiast of workout classes at the Concord Y, holiday music, and afternoon kaffee und kuchen.

She was predeceased by husband Rolf Wach; husband Edward Moody; sister Rosa Hahn; brother Franz Schenk; grandson Brookie Moody; great-grandson C.J. Cronan; and daughter-in-law Sheila Moody.

She leaves behind her children: Rolf (Sandra) Moody of Loveland, CO; Heidi (Don) Hillsgrove of Bow; John Moody of Boscawen; Rick Moody of Loudon; and Debbie (Tom) Marsh of Loudon, as well as her grandchildren: Krista (Dan) Shippee; Susan Hillsgrove; Cindy Cumming; Katie (Chris) Boudette; Camilla Moody; Heather Moody; Jason (Jennifer) Moody; Laura (Josh) Moody; Eric (Vanessa) Marsh; and Angela Marsh.  She is also survived by her sister Boby (Hermann) Hahn of Nürnberg; brother-in-law Francis (Nancy) Moody; and her beloved great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Friday, April 5th at 11 A.M. in Moore Cemetery, Loudon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Merrimack County Nursing Home’s Resident Fund, 325 Daniel Webster Highway, Boscawen, NH 03303.
