Obituary

HOOKSETT – Jay A. Jennato, 53, of Hooksett, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2023 at the Elliot Hospital with his family by his side.

Born on January 22, 1970 in Manchester, NH, he was the son of Donna Davis and Steve Murphy of Deerfield and Darryl Jennato and his wife Marie of Candia.

Jay was a graduate of West High School and went on to earn his Bachelors’ Degree in Science and Civil Engineering from University of NH, Durham. He was most recently employed with Severino Trucking as a Foreman. Jay was very involved within his community, serving on the Board of Hooksett Youth Activities Association (HYAA) for several years.  He was a soccer coach for the Hooksett Cawley Middle School as well as Hooksett Travel Soccer for many years.  Coach Jay was very passionate in bringing out the very best in every single one of his players and always wanted to provide such a positive atmosphere for his teams.  This showed as many of his teams won State Titles.   Coach Jay would do anything for his players and that never went unnoticed.

Jay also loved snowmobiling. The Jackman, Maine house is a special place in our hearts with many fond memories of snowmobiling trips with loved ones and great friends.  Among the snowmobiling trips and guys’ weekends away, traveling the Great Gaspe trip through Canada will be the most memorable.  His motorcycle was without a doubt his second love.  Jay’s green Harley was his pride and joy.  There were several memories including trips to soccer tournaments in New York, North Conway getaways, Boothbay Maine weekends and tons of rides with friends. Hunting was always a passion of Jays as well.  While he may have had spotty luck in NH, one special memory will always be the deer he got in Colorado with his Grandfather’s rifle, which held a special place in his heart.

Jay’s bear hugs and his smile that lit up any room will be greatly missed.

Besides his parents, he is survived by his wife Karen (Bonenfant) Jennato of Hooksett, with whom he shared 31 years of marriage with, children, Joshua Jennato and his girlfriend Isabella Leon of Hooksett, Heather Jennato of Hooksett, brother, Scott Jennato and his wife Sue of Bedford and step brother, Roy Jenkersen and Fiancé Lisa of Nashua as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Thursday June 1 at 5-7pm at the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association in Jay’s memory.
