CONCORD- Helen Annabelle (Chapman) Prescott went to her heavenly home on Monday, November 6, 2023. Helen was a faithful woman who loved the Lord, her family, her church, and her community. Born on December 3, 1929, in Concord, NH, to Ida and Albert Chapman, Helen would have celebrated her 94th birthday next month. She was a lifelong resident of Concord NH, a faithful member of Immanuel Community Church, and a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Helen attended Concord High School, graduating in 1948. It is here that she met Robert “Bob” Prescott. They were married in 1951. Bob built a home for his growing family in 1954 on Concord Heights, where they raised four energetic children, raising them in the teaching and admonition of the Lord. After her children had grown, Helen learned to drive and started work as the lunch lady at Dame School and later at Broken Ground School until her and Bob’s retirement. She and Bob enjoyed travelling in their later years, were members of the Concord Coach Square Dance Club, and sang in their church’s choir.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Bob in 2018 after 66 years of marriage. She leaves behind her children, Daniel (wife Julie) of Concord NH, Donald (wife Mary) of Penacook, Peter (wife Sharon) of Contoocook, and Karen (husband Bill) Jennison of Belmont, as well as grandchildren Matthew (Melissa) Prescott, Kelly (David) Potter, Corey (Stacie) Prescott, Nicholas (Abigail) Prescott, Heather Prescott, and Catherine (Cameron) Fulford, and great-grandchildren Isabelle, Stefanie, Brianna, Victoria, Arianna, Quinn, Zoe, Mason, Morgan, Parker, Sawyer, Remi, Layla, and Emily.
Helen’s pie-making abilities were famous. She never made just one pie but would often donate 7 or 8 to family dinners or church functions. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren will miss her chocolate cream pies, warm smiles, and loving hugs.
A Celebration of Helen’s life will be held on Wednesday, November 15th at Epsom Bible Church, Epsom NH at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Bill Donahue of Immanuel Community Church officiating. Private interment will be held at the Soucook Cemetery on Josiah Bartlett Road.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Immanuel Community Church, 9 Grover Street, Concord NH 03301. The family would like to thank the caregivers and staff at the Birches for their compassionate care of Helen for the last 6 months.
