Heather C. Tufts

PITTSFIELD- Heather C. Tufts, 36, of Pittsfield, passed away suddenly at the Catholic Medical Center on September 9, 2022 following complications from a sudden cardiac event.

Born in Winchester, MA, Heather was the beloved daughter of William and Cynthia (Swymer) Tufts of Center Tuftonboro. She was raised and educated in Chester and was a graduate of Pinkerton Academy Class of 2004. She graduated from NHTI in 2008 with a concentration in early childhood education.

Most recently, Heather was employed by Blueberry Express, a nonprofit daycare center, located in Pittsfield. She previously worked at Pittsfield Elementary School as a para-educator. She valued being an advocate for children and cherished watching them learn and grow.

Outside of the classroom, Heather’s interests were abundant. She loved the fall and winter months and was well known in the community for handing candy out to the local children on Halloween, many of whom were her students at one time. Her Christmas spirit lasted yearlong; she lived by the motto that “Christmas is not a time of year, but a state of mind”. She was passionate about exercising and cooking.  Her love for animals was well known, especially for her two cats.

Heather loved to read, listening to music, attending concerts, and watching movies; especially musicals and horror. She enjoyed visits to the Deerfield Fair as well as the Lakes Region, where walking the rail trail in Wolfeboro, shopping, dining, and sitting by the docks watching the boats and loons were always memorable moments.

Though she loved the city, including trips to Boston and New York, Heather was and always will be a “country girl” at heart.

In addition to her parents, Heather is survived by her sister, Ashley Perron and her husband Billy and their two children, Mckinley and Charlie; her maternal grandparents, Ruth and John Swymer of North Reading, MA; her paternal grandmother, Barbara Tufts of Wakefield, MA as well as many extended family members, friends, and her beloved students.

Calling Hours will be held on Friday, September 23rd from 5 to 7 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom.  A Celebration of Her Life will be held on Saturday, September 24th at 2 P.M. at the Longview School, 55 Reservation Rd. in Deerfield.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Heather’s memory may be sent to Blueberry Express Daycare, 8 Catamount Rd., Pittsfield, NH 03263.
