Harold E. Darrah, Jr.

BARNSTEAD- Mr. Harold E. Darrah, Jr., 64, of Barnstead, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 14, 2023. Harold passed away doing what he loved, helping others.

Born in Concord, Harold was the son of the late Harold E. Darrah, Sr. and Margaret F. (Vargus) Morrill.  He was raised and educated in Hopkinton and was a graduate of Hopkinton High School.

Prior to his retirement, Harold was employed as a Product Controller for the General Electric Co. in the Defense Plant for over 39 years.

Harold grew up with a strong work ethic and instilled the same values in his sons. He took great pride in their accomplishments and found joy in witnessing their dedication to their professions.

Beyond his personal pursuits, Harold was also passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. He dedicated his free time to helping family and friends (and occasionally strangers) and lending a helping hand wherever it was needed.

Nothing brought him more happiness than taking long scenic rides with his soulmate and wife Debbie where they created cherished memories. When Harold and Debbie were not embarking on journeys or hosting family gatherings, Harold loved spending time with Debbie and the dogs relaxing in the pool.  Harold held a special place in his heart for animals. The family’s dogs were not just pets but cherished members of the family.

Harold treasured spending time with his grandkids. You would often find him enjoying ice cream sandwiches with them.  He shared countless adventures and spent endless hours doting on them.  He was always there whenever they needed him.

Harold was predeceased by his siblings: Judith, Russell and Edward Darrah.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Deborah A. (Quinn) Darrah; his sons, Jay Darrah and his wife Heidi and their children Jacey (and her fiancé Cory) and Cam; Jimmy Darrah and his wife Liz and their children Tyler, Cadence and Payton; Joe Darrah and his partner Brianne and her children Emma and Asher; and Brandon Walker; his siblings, Sandra Soucy and her husband Roland, Margaret Driscoll and her husband Gene, Beverly Thompson and her husband Ken and Ralph Darrah and his wife Linda.
