Gene Serafin Obituary

PEMBROKE- Mr. Gene T. Serafin, 82, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family after a period of declining health.

Born in Hartford, CT, Gene was the son of the late Francis and Virginia (Sheridan) Serafin.  He was raised and educated in Berlin and was a graduate of Berlin High School Class of 1959.  Upon graduating, he quickly enlisted in the United States Navy, proudly serving his country until 1963.

Prior to his retirement, Gene was employed as a Diesel Mechanic for Holmes Transportation for over 20 years and later worked for the Town of Hooksett.

Gene found great value and purpose in working.  Never one to sit still, he worked on his home as well as his children’s homes for over 50 years.  Whether it be carpentry, plumbing or electrician, Gene filled all the roles.  He could make anything run and was the ultimate fixer.  He was steadfast to his family and friends, willing to do anything for anybody.

Gene enjoyed gardening and took great pleasure in sharing a meal with his family.

He was predeceased by his siblings: Rosemarie Mulligan, Beverly Hamel, Francis Serafin, Jr. and Gail Rayno.

Gene is survived by his wife of 57 years, Patricia A. (Suiter) Serafin; his three children: Tom Serafin and his wife Jennifer of Pembroke, Brady Serafin and his wife Leanna of Belton, TX and Tory D’Amore and her husband Daniel of Hooksett.  He was the loving grandfather to Kasie, Matthew, Megan, Nicholas, Hannah, Tyler, Azya, Skylar, Clara, Emma and Ryan.  He was the brother to Virginia Mattson of Keene and is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Calling Hours will be held on Monday, April 17th from 5 to 7 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home 167 Main St. in Pembroke.  A Prayer Service will follow at 7 P.M.  Interment will take place privately with the family.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene’s memory may be sent to the Granite VNA Hospice House, 30 Pillsbury St. Concord, NH 03301.  To share a memory or offer a condolence, please visit www.roanfamilyfuneral.com
