Frank J. Bauer Obituary

DEERFIELD, NH- Frank J. Bauer aged 73 of Deerfield, NH, passed on February 15th, 2024, in Lebanon, NH after his health declined. He was born to Fred C. and Misako (Seki) Bauer on July 22, 1950, in Yokohama, Japan. After his father left the Army the family moved to Springfield, MA in the early 1950’s, where he grew up with his three younger sisters.

Frank graduated Lowell Tech in Lowell, MA with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering. It was at Lowell Tech that he met his wife on February 14, 1969. They married on September 12, 1970, and moved to Nashua, NH while Frank finished college. After college he took a job with the New Hampshire Department of Transportation in 1972, and remained with them until he retired in 2007. After purchasing land in Deerfield, they built a house in 1974, where they raised their family of three children and many loved dogs and cats.

Frank enjoyed the outdoors and was active in the Northwood Crank Pullers Snowmobile Club, the Kinnicum Fish and Game Club, and Boy Scouts of America, Troop 138 (where his son became an Eagle Scout) attending weekly meetings, camping trips and events. He also helped at Rochester Sports Center with his close friends. He enjoyed going snowmobiling, hunting, and spending time with friends at their camp in northern New Hampshire.

The family took road trips to Walt Disney World, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and other sights. He was fond of building tree houses with the kids and bookcases for the house. He also took pleasure in attending the school ski group with the kids and taking them to other ski locations. He enjoyed cooking at home, particularly the family tradition of Polish pierogis for Christmas Eve and opening the home to family and friends. Frank loved his various pets over the years, particularly his hunting dogs.

He is survived by his wife, Michele (Kolinski) Bauer, son Scott with his wife Tiffany (Kenneally), and their children Ethan and Enola, daughter Christine (Bauer) with her husband John Steman, and their children Anna and Cyrus, and daughter Rebecca Bauer, with her dogs Chloe, Charlie, and Cora, who absolutely adored Frank.

He is also survived by his sister Theresa (Bauer) and her husband Christopher Hanson and their daughter Isabelle, sister Michelle (Bauer), and her husband John Grasso, and their children Joshua, Zachary, Matthew, and Luke, and his brother-in-law, Albert C. Kolinski. He was predeceased by his parents and his sister Barbara Bauer Howley.
