EPSOM- Mr. Frank A. Quimby, 88, of Epsom, passed away at the Epsom Healthcare Center on May 2, 2022 surrounded by his loving family after a period of declining health.
Born in Concord, Frank was the son of the late Frank A. Jr. and Doris (Jones) Quimby. He was raised and educated in Chichester and was a graduate of Concord High School Class of 1951. He enlisted in the United States Navy and served his country during the Korean Conflict for four years, attending various service schools and serving aboard the U.S.S. Kirkpatrick.
Prior to his retirement, Frank was employed as a rural letter carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 32 years. He also worked for several years at Sprague Electric in Concord. He was a former member of the Epsom Fire Department, serving as Captain and later treasurer. He also spent time working for the Epsom Central School and the former Suncook Bank as a custodian.
Active in civic and community affairs, Frank was a member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, the American Legion Post #112 of Epsom, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge # 1374 of Concord and the Concord/Epsom Lodge of Elks #1210. He was named Epsom’s Citizen of the Year in 1998. Frank was a longtime member of the Corinthian Lodge #82 F & AM, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Concord, a member of the Consistory, Valley of Nashua and a 32nd Degree Mason. He was also a member of the Bektash Temple and former member of the Concord Shrine Club and the Chichester United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Gaspee Order #99 Sword of Bunker Hill of Providence, RI, the order of I.O.O.F., the Evergreen Lodge #53 of Epsom, where he served as chaplain and trustee, and was a member of the Penacook Encampment #3 in Concord.
He enjoyed being outdoors, fishing, hunting, walking and gardening.
He was predeceased by his sisters: Ruth Sawyer, Ethel “Pat” Little and Doris LaDuke.
Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 68 years, Ruth E. (Mason) Quimby; his four children: Ann S. Shumway and her husband Mike, Alan S. Quimby and his wife Gail, Dale R. Quimby and Glenn E. Quimby and his wife Tracey all of Epsom. He is also survived by his sister, Frances Howland of Concord as well as 8 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, May 7th from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. in the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 P.M. Services will conclude with burial in McClary Cemetery, Epsom. In lieu of flowers, donations in Frank’s memory may be sent to the charity of one’s choice.
