Eugene R. Fifield

BARNSTEAD – Eugene R. Fifield, 79, of Barnstead passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 24, 2023 at Concord Hospital. Born on March 25, 1943 in Portland, ME the son of the late, Charles and Virginia (Kelley) Fifield.

Gene attended and graduated from Nashua Senior High School class of 1962. Immediately following graduation Gene entered the US Navy as a submariner where he served 2 tours in Vietnam. In 1966 he left the Navy and moved back to NH. He worked 2 years selling for Prudential Insurance then left to start a longtime career in manufacturing. His career included working 40+ years at the following companies: Ingersoll Rand, Centronics, Wang Laboratories, Nashua Industrial, Abbott Machine, Morgan Construction, Pittsfield Weaving and he retired from CBI.

Gene absolutely loved cooking for his family (he always said his special ingredient in his meatballs was love). He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and playing cards with his friends at his winter home in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

Gene was predeceased by his siblings, Irene Grass, Charles Fifield, John Fifield and Patricia Grenier.

Members of his family include his loving wife of 55 years, Elaine (Robidoux) Fifield; son, Glen Fifield and his wife, Donna of Goffstown; daughter, Michele Richard and her husband, Steve of Hooksett; grandchildren, Marissa St Onge and her husband Derrek, Morgan, Maggie, Madyson, Sydney and Jordan; great-grandchildren, Myles and Nolan and several nieces and nephews which whom he adored, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Ronald & Constance Robidoux of Daytona, Florida; sister-in-law Claire Chauvette Northfield, NH; brother-in-law Donald Grenier of Nashua, NH; sister-in-law Rita Fifield of Columbia, SC.

A graveside service with Military Honors will take place at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 116 DW Hwy Boscawen, on May 12, 2023 at 12PM. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Eugene’s honor to NH Down Syndrome Association.
