Obituary

CENTER BARNSTEAD- Bruce Anthony John Bednarski (73) passed suddenly, as the result of a cardiac event in the early morning hours of August 1, 2023.

Bruce displayed a tremendous amount of responsibility and goodness from a young age, as well as, a lifelong enthusiastic curiosity to better understand our world and its place in the cosmos. Bruce's fascination for the natural world, was inspired and developed during his time with the Boy Scouts of America where he achieved the rank and honor of Eagle Scout. He spent the summers of his youth working as a lifeguard and swimming instructor at both the YMCA and Sunset Lake in NH. Nights spent star gazing, led to a passion for astronomy, science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

Bruce earned his Bachelor's of Science in mathematics at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and did his master's research in computer science at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. An exceptionally brilliant polymath, Bruce pursued a career in software engineering. He was instrumental in the development and testing of the Patriot Missile Defense System in the early 1970's and developed software for industry leading companies both domestic and international. In 1999 Bruce founded BVJ Company Inc. and continued to work on the cutting edge of computer science and technology until the time of his death.

Bruce was a devoted and loving husband to Victoria Jean Bednarski (1946-2022) for nearly 50 years. He adored her and they complemented one another beautifully. They are both survived by their loyal and loving daughter Julie Bednarski. As a husband and father, Bruce was the finest example of unconditional love, compassion, and kindness I have ever seen.

He was a man of deep faith. He studied Christian Scripture religiously and his connection to God was deeply mystical. He saw the hand of God in every natural thing, and thus was a steward of the environment. His compassionate, calm and gentle manner, soothed all of our family's rescued animals.

Even though he was genius, he was a humble, supportive and patient teacher. He taught me how to think critically, how to do research, and how to communicate with others. He was generous with his comprehensive knowledge, and mentored many people over his lifetime. In the last few years of life he wrote a nostalgic account of his time in the Boy Scouts and designed a study guide to educate children on how to prevent bullying and bigotry.

Bruce's gratitude and appreciation for life was evident in its every aspect.

He leaves behind the legacy of and exemplary life that encouraged all who knew him to seek their highest potential.
