ALLENSTOWN- Mrs. Blanche L. (Lefebvre) Proulx, 93, passed away peacefully at the Meetinghouse at Riverfront in Manchester on September 26, 2022 after a period of declining health.
Born in Allenstown, Blanche was the daughter of the late Achille and Angeline (Neveu) Lefebvre. She was raised and educated in Allenstown and was a graduate of Pembroke Academy Class of 1947. She resided there her entire life before moving to Manchester last year.
Prior to her retirement, Blanche was employed as a computer programmer for the New Hampshire Union Leader for over 32 years.
From a young age, music was an integral part of Blanche’s life. As an active communicant of St. John the Baptist Parish, she began singing in church at the age of 9. For more than 60 years, she was a devoted organist at St. John the Baptist before retiring in July of 2019. In addition to being the director of the women’s choir, she was also a longtime member and past president of the Ladies of Ste. Anne Sodality.
Blanche loved knitting, crocheting, sewing and tending to her rose garden. She greatly enjoyed traveling, especially the many memorable bus trips and cruises with her husband.
Blanche was predeceased by her husband, Marcel Proulx; her son, Maurice Proulx; her daughter-in-law, Sandra Proulx; her sisters, Medora Viens and Berangere Brisbois; and brother, Doria Lefebvre.
She is survived by three children: Richard Proulx of Newport, Roger Proulx and his wife Chris of Lebanon, CT and Jeannine Eaton and her husband David of Hooksett. She is also survived by her sister, Odelva Geddes of Franklin, MA; and six grandchildren: Dan Proulx, Jacquie Proulx and her partner Allen Lungren, Toni LaChapelle and her husband Jon, Michelle Eaton and her husband Brennan Gassek, Suzie Proulx, and Matthew Eaton and his wife Edurne Vega.
Calling Hours will be held on Tuesday, October 4th from 5 to 8 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, October 5th at 11 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church in Allenstown. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
