ALLENSTOWN- Mr. Albert E. Fleury, 98, formerly of River Road, but residing at the Merrimack County Nursing Home since 2018, passed away peacefully at the home’s hospice facility on Saturday, December 26, 2020, after a long period of diminished physical ability.
Albert “Ed” was born in Pembroke, the son of Charles and Lena (Demaris) Fleury. Ed served in the US Army during World War II and was employed most of his life as an automobile and truck mechanic. He enjoyed the outdoors and in his twilight years, had a passion for starting apple trees from seeds and planting them wherever he could.
Ed was the beloved husband of the late Pauline Fleury, with whom he shared 68 years of marriage.
He leaves one son, Gerard “Gerry” Fleury and his wife Kathleen of Pembroke; one daughter, Elizabeth “Lisa” Topalis and her husband David of Salem, IN; 4 grandchildren, Jeffrey Fleury of Henniker, Brianne Shelat and her husband Kamal of Nashua, Peter Fleury and his wife Janine, of Plymouth, MA, and Suzanne Fleury of Greenfield, MA. He is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, as well as several cousins.
He was also predeceased by two sisters, Cora Hurd and Annette Belanger, and four brothers, Gene, Steve, Walter and Victor Fleury.
Owing to the complications of COVID-19 and other factors, there will be no immediate services but an open air celebration of life will be planned for the late spring.
