Alan D. Cheney

PEMBROKE- Mr. Alan D. Cheney, 69, of Pembroke, passed away suddenly at home on September 3, 2023 after a period of declining health.

Born in Dover, Alan was the son of the late Earlon and Eleanor (O’Neil Cheney).  He was raised in Berwick, ME before moving to Dover, where he was a graduate of Dover High School.  He continued his education at the Whittemore School of Business.

Prior to his retirement, Alan was employed as a mortgage banker for St. Mary’s Bank in Manchester.

He enjoyed refinishing antiques and was an avid golfer prior to his illness.  He also enjoyed watching sports of all kinds.

Alan is survived by his wife, Janis E. (Sargent) Cheney; his two sons, Dalton Cheney of Pembroke and Jake Cheney of Concord.  He was the grandfather to Kyra and Noah Cheney.  He is also survived by three sisters, Victoria Rose of Boca Raton, FL, Joanne Cheney of Dover and Mary Cheney of Arizona.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 10th from 4:30 to 6:30 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke.  A Celebration of His Life will follow at 6:30P.M.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Alan’s memory may be sent to the Live and Let Life Farm, 20 Paradise Ln.
