Obituary

PEMBROKE- Mr. William F. "Bill" Edmonds, 98, of Pembroke, passed away at the Concord Hospital on December 5, 2023 after a brief illness. Born in Pembroke, Bill was the third oldest of five children born to Richard and Goldie (Labontee) Edmunds. He was raised and educated in Pembroke, graduating from Pembroke Academy. Bill enlisted in the United States Navy in 1943 and was assigned to a submarine watch squadron on air patrol over the Gulf of Mexico. After being honorably discharged in 1946, he returned to Pembroke and married the former Lucille Blais of Allenstown. He went on to work in several local businesses, eventually owning and operating Edmonds Exxon Service Center for over 35 years. Bill was an excellent tennis player and a longtime member of the Racquet Club of Concord. He was a formidable opponent in competition and frequently won his division at the annual Granite State Senior Games. He also enjoyed boating and spending time at his camp on Lake Winnipesaukee. He was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Lucille A. (Blais), two older sisters: Lucille Cabitor and Charlotte Space, and a brother, Curtis Edmonds. Bill is survived by his son: Brent Edmonds and Helen Champa of Pembroke; his brother, Dean Edmunds and his wife Nancy of Concord; three grandchildren, Kate and her husband Brandon McDuffee, Daniel Edmonds, and Megan Edmonds; 1 great granddaughter, Marley McDuffee; several nieces and nephews, as well as his good friend and devoted companion, Barbara Sacco. In accordance with his wishes, a private family burial will take place at a later time. In lieu of flowers, donations in Bill's memory may be sent to NH Audubon, Attn: Development, 84 Silk Farm Rd.
