Obituary

CONCORD- Wayne Frank Hall Sr, 83, passed away on September 25, 2024, in Concord, NH after fighting a valiant battle with Cancer, like a cowboy in his favorite western movie. Born on June 4,1941 in Concord, New Hampshire, Wayne was best known for being devoted to his family, which extended far beyond his blood relatives, and his passion for the outdoors. Wayne was a 1960 graduate of Pembroke Academy, where he formed lifelong friendships. He worked for a time at the Rumford Press but ultimately found his career at Verizon (formerly AT&T/Bell Atlantic, NYNEX, and New England Telephone) where he dedicated 30 years of service as a Splice Service Technician. An avid outdoorsman, sometimes called The Legend, Wayne spent much of his free time hunting, fishing, and backyard farming. These activities not only brought him peace and contentment but also allowed him to share his love for the outdoors with his family and friends, especially his hunting buddy, Mark Jenks. Wayne was well known for his vivid hunting and fishing stories, which he had many, and would share them with anyone who wished to listen. Wayne was also actively involved in the Merrimack County 4H program, where he served several years as a leader of the Poultry and Rabbit programs. Wayne was superintendent at the Poultry and Rabbit Barn at the Hopkinton State Fair for over 40 years. You could find him and his family there each Labor Day weekend educating youth on chickens, waterfowl, and rabbits. Wayne had many people who were close to him and considered him family. It was through his work as a union steward and in his general day-to-day activities, that Wayne taught his children, son-in-law, and grandchildren about the importance of giving back to others. He did so in many ways, such as packing food boxes for families when his company was on strike, gifting free fishing supplies to kids whose families could not afford it, or even just generally helping when someone was in need no matter the ask. Family was the cornerstone of Wayne's life. He is survived by his dedicated wife of 60 years, Roberta Hall; children, Wayne Hall II and Marlene Hammond; son-in-law, Todd Hammond; grandchildren, Richard (Hailey) and David Hammond; great-grandchildren, Carter and Lily Hammond. Wayne also leaves behind his siblings, Sharon Drew, Patricia Fowler (Steve), Ed Lavallee (Karen), and many in laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank E Hall and Arlene G (Hall) Lavallee, Step-Father Rene Lavallee, brother, Allan Hall, and in laws Terry Hall, and Kenneth Drew. Wayne's life will be celebrated at The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Hwy in EPSOM, NH with calling hours on Thursday, October 3rd from 5 to 7 P.M. and Funeral Services on Friday, October 4th at 12:00 P.M. Burial will follow at Blossom Hill Cemetery in Concord.
