HOOKSETT- Veronica Cusson passed away July 7, 2023 at age 78.
Veronica was born on March 1, 1945 in Hogansburg, NY to Josephine (O'Brien) and Charles Southwick. She graduated from Salmon River Central in Franklin County, NY where she participated in social clubs such as Dance Band, Marching Band, Concert Band, Chorus and Drama Club. She graduated from nursing school in Ogdensburg, NY.
Veronica liked to journal notes, especially on current news and events. She liked to study foreign languages such as French, German, and Spanish. She practiced playing the piano and organ. She played clarinet and saxophone in her earlier years often to boogie-woogie type of music as she said her Dad used to play. In her younger years, she sang in the Holy Rosary Parish Choir, volunteered on the Women's Auxiliary, and was an RN.
As part of the Holy Rosary Parish Choir, she participated in the 1976 Town Bicentennial Parade that also inaugurated the new bridge that crossed the Merrimack River in the Hooksett Village.
Veronica was sixth of nine surviving children out of 12: Sally, Sr. Roberta (pre-deceased), Charles Henry II (pre-deceased), William, Monica (pre-deceased, twin), Kevin, Bryan, and Martha.
She married Maurice A. Cusson August 27, 1966, almost 57 years ago. Veronica is survived by her husband, her five children, and seven grandchildren. One grandchild is predeceased.
Calling Hours will be Wednesday, July 12th from 10 A.M. to 12 Noon at Holy Rosary Parish, 21 Main St., Hooksett. A Roman Catholic Mass will follow at 12 Noon, celebrated by Rev. Edmond Crowley. Services will conclude with burial in the parish cemetery and a reception to follow in the parish hall. Assisting the family with arrangements is The Roan Family Funeral Home of Pembroke.
