Obituary

BARNSTEAD - Teresa Flanders Scahill passed away on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, after a serious illness surrounded by her family. She was born on July 6, 1956, and spent her early years in Pittsfield, New Hampshire living with her mother, father and six siblings. Teresa graduated from Pittsfield High School and went on to attend college where she graduated with a degree in Psychology, which she was extremely proud of. Her career included being a volunteer EMT/Firefighter, a banker, a deputy town clerk and a Paraprofessional special needs educator. She was always willing to give her time and energy to help others and it showed in the many people she challenged, cared for, and changed. Her hobbies included Flanders Bean Hole Beans, hot air ballooning, traveling, reading, art and volunteering among other things. If you knew Teresa, you knew she was open to trying new things and never sat still for too long. She was delighted in fun and maintained a love of adventure and learning throughout her life, which showed in her hobbies and her careers. Teresa cherished her friendships, developing them at each stage of her life with most of them lasting the remainder of her life. At the time of her passing, Teresa still had friendships that she had maintained since her early years. Her passing left an enormous hole in the lives of those who loved her, but her legacy of love, service and faith will carry on in the many lives she touched. Teresa's life was a melody of love, education, and community—a tune that will resonate in the hearts of those she touched forever and her life was a testament to the beauty of a life well-lived, the lives she touched, and the love she shared. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her legacy will bloom eternally in the hearts of those she has left behind. Up until the end, Teresa maintained her kindness, grace, compassion, love of family and friends, and her one-of-a-kind spunky personality. She leaves an indelible impression on those who called her mother, wife, sister, cousin, friend, coworker, teacher, and mentor. Teresa had a brilliant spirit, radiant smile and compassionate heart and her life can best be encapsulated by five "F" words: Family, Friends, Food, Fun and Fearlessness. In her 68 years here with us she experienced an abundance of each. Teresa was preceded in death by her mother: Marilyn Davis Flanders; her father: George Edward Flanders; her brother: Roger Flanders; and her brother-in-law: Chuck Messier. Survivors include her husband: Michael Scahill; her son: Timothy Scahill; her brothers: Mark, Alan, Henry and Dana Flanders and their wives; her sister: Julie Messier; many nieces and nephews; and a large extended family along with a community of friends and former students. A private service for her family will be held in her honor. Roan Family Funeral Home-Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom assisted the family with arrangements.
