Obituary

SOUTH PITTSFIELD – Susan V. Elliott, 71, of South Pittsfield, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 8, 2026, at Concord Hospital. She was born in Weymouth, Massachusetts, on June 1, 1955, the daughter of the late Paul E. Metcalf, Sr. and Lucia A. (Peirce) Metcalf.

Susan dedicated 30 years to teaching at Pittsfield Elementary School, spending 25 of those years in the same classroom as a beloved third-grade teacher. She retired in 2022, leaving behind generations of students whose lives she touched through her dedication, kindness, and love of teaching.

A woman who was always involved in her community, Susan was a Rainbow Girl and Girl Scout Leader and was active with the PTO and Booster Club. She was also a longtime member and leader of 4-H, serving with the organization for 26 years. She especially enjoyed cooking, gardening, sewing, and farming.

Members of her family include her devoted husband of 49 years, Peter Elliott; her daughters, Christine M. Elliott and Jennifer F. Elliott; granddaughter, Caitlyn S. Wood; sister, Sandra A. Osborne; brothers, Paul E. Metcalf, Jr. and his wife, Jill, and Roger E. Metcalf and his wife, Tina; and several nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main Street, Pittsfield, on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Susan’s memory to the South Pittsfield Community Club, 42 Dowboro Road, Pittsfield, NH 03263, or to Victory Workers 4-H Club, 615 Dowboro Road, Pittsfield, NH 03263. A committal service will be at a later date. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
