TILTON – Stephen B. Dandy, 72 of Tilton passed away peacefully on Monday, July 6, 2026 at the New Hampshire Veterans Home after a lengthy illness. Born in Concord on May 4, 1954 the son of Robert H. Dandy and Margaret I. (Varney) Dandy. Stephen was predeceased by his father, Robert Dandy and his beloved wife, Edye (Dingle) Dandy.
Stephen proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for 20 years before retiring with honor as a Staff Seargent. His military career took him across the continents, and he and his beloved wife Edye embraced the opportunities to travel and explore together. His career reflected his commitment to duty, and commitment - a life defined by service, devotion and quiet strength.
Outside of his military service, Stephen found great joy in the game of baseball. He was an avid fan who enjoyed watching the sport, mentoring young players and was an accomplished umpire who felt at home when on the field. He gained the nickname “Coach” which stayed with him thru the end of his life.
Stephen also had a tremendous love for dogs. They brought him endless companionship and happiness, and he never missed an opportunity to share his affection for them.
Stephen will be remembered for his dedication to his country, his love of baseball, his generous heart, and his friendship. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Members of his family include his daughter, Jennifer Gossert and her husband, Tom; sisters, Barbara Lawler and her husband, Kevin and Deborah Greenwood and her significant other, Tony Ruggirio; brother, Michael Dandy and his wife, Penny and several nieces and nephews.
A gathering to honor Stephen and share stories and memories will be held on Sunday, July 19, 2026, from 1pm to 4pm at 48 Woodhill Rd, Bow. The Military Honors ceremony will begin at 3pm. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Stephen’s honor to the NH Veteran’s home in Tilton, NH.
