On November 15, 2024, just one day after his 45th birthday, Scott Porter passed away unexpectedly at his home. Born on November 14, 1979, Scott was a beloved husband, father, son, and friend. His sudden passing was attributed to advanced blood cancer, a condition that had gone undetected. Scott lived a life full of love, dedication, and strength, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew him.
Scott's family was the center of his world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Corey (Schug) Porter; his son, Jacob Porter; and his daughter-in-law, Yaire (Rodriguez) Porter, whom he affectionately called his bonus daughter. His favorite nephew, Jason Veno, who was like his extra son. Scott will be deeply missed by his parents, Roger Porter Jr. and Donna (Swanson) Porter; his brother, Roger Porter III; and his mother-in-law, Nancy (Lavoie) Schug, whom he lovingly thought of as his second mom. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Peter Schug, whom he admired deeply and thought of as his second father. Scott also leaves behind a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and extended family, including his sister-in-law, Sue Stone; her husband, John Stone; and their daughter, Lydia Stone.
Scott's family extended far beyond those defined by blood. He cherished a close circle of friends who became his chosen family, sharing countless memories, laughter, and love. His extra brothers, Danny Dyer and Jared Bergeron. And his core friends; Shawna Voorhees, Rich Stover, Paul Rumery, David Cline and Sean Burnette. Their bond was a testament to his kind spirit and unwavering loyalty, and they will forever hold a special place in their hearts for him.
Scott had a quick wit and a unique sense of humor that was unlike anyone else. He was always catching people off guard with his sharp, unexpected remarks, leaving those around him never quite sure what he'd say next—but always ready to laugh. His humor and personality were truly one of a kind. Scott had a deep love for the outdoors, spending his happiest moments hunting, four-wheeling, and enjoying time at the family cabin—his favorite place to be.
Visitation will be held at Camp Brookwoods, 34 Camp Brookwoods Rd in Alton, NH on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 5pm to 6pm. A prayer service will begin at 6pm followed by a reception. There is no burial. Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements.
