Obituary

Ronald James Robbins, 69, of Pembroke, passed away Sunday, May 1st at his residence. Ron was born September 7, 1952 in Pensacola, FL, to parents Charles and Mildred (Pillsbury) Robbins. Ron leaves his son Calvin James Robbins of Fairfax, VA, his sister Cathryn Scirpo and husband Paul of Davenport, FL, and his loving and devoted friends Kristopher Cicchetto, and Jim and Diane Butler of Pembroke. Ron was very proud of his 25-year career in the US Air Force. He retired in 1996, having attained the rank of master sergeant (1988). A capable and versatile airman, he participated in every conflict from Vietnam to the Gulf. Those with whom he served rate his service as nothing short of exemplary. In his later years, Ron took a job driving a school bus for charter, and for children with disabilities. He joyfully made a positive impact in the lives of everyone on his route. Ron felt it important to give back to the community, and he volunteered his time at Women Infants and Children, Meals on Wheels, and area homeless shelters. Ron loved auctions, yard sales, his metal detector, fishing, bird watching, and photography. He adored the great outdoors. Ron was always a conversationalist, drawn to people he knew to be honest and kind at heart--he could tell. Curious, playful and generous, he was truly an unforgettable character. A pacifist and deeply human, Ron touched the hearts of all who had the honor of truly knowing him. He was loved, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. With fondness and a smile, "Ta-Ta" for now (Ron's signature goodbye), until we meet again. A brief service will be held for friends and family at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen on Friday, June 10th at 12:30.
