PITTSFIELD – Roger Arthur Douillette, Sr., 83, of Pittsfield, NH, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at Elliot Hospital.
He was born on October 5, 1942, in Pembroke, NH, the son of the late David L. Douillette, Sr. and Ernestine (LeClair) Douillette. Roger was raised in Suncook and graduated from Concord High School in 1960. Following graduation, he joined the Army National Guard and proudly served his country for six years, including a period of active-duty service.
Roger’s career began at Rumford Press, where he met the love of his life, Eileen Emerson. After just three hours on their first date, Roger proposed. The two shared 50 years of marriage before Eileen’s passing in 2025. Their love and partnership remained an important part of Roger’s life throughout his years, and he carried her memory with him until the very end.
Roger later began a career with the New Hampshire Department of Corrections, where he worked for more than 15 years and rose to the rank of Sergeant. Roger was a dedicated Freemason whose Masonic journey began when he was raised in Jewell Lodge No. 94 in Suncook in 1977. He later affiliated with Horace Lodge No. 72, where he served as Worshipful Master on four occasions. His commitment to Masonry continued through the York Rite, where he held numerous leadership positions and was elected Grand High Priest of the Grand Royal Arch Chapter of New Hampshire in 1995. He was also recognized with the Order of High Priesthood and served in several regional and national Masonic leadership roles. Roger’s dedication to Masonry spanned nearly five decades and was a profound and meaningful part of his life, providing him with lasting friendships, opportunities to serve, and a community that he held close to his heart.
Roger had many interests and simple pleasures. He loved to cook and enjoyed long car rides, playing cards and cribbage, and watching MeTV, especially reruns of M*A*S*H. He also enjoyed hunting and archery. Over the years, Roger and Eileen had many beloved pets who held a special place in their hearts
Above all else, Roger treasured his family. He was generous by nature, and he loved his family more than anything. He was the kind of person who always made sure everyone had enough to eat and was cared for. His love was shown in the everyday things he did for those around him, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents and wife, Roger was predeceased by his son, Roger A. Douillette Jr.; and his siblings, David Jr., William, Bruce, Lester, Charles, Irene and Jeanne.
He is survived by his children, Elizabeth Lambert, Jeffrey Douillette Sr., Bonnie Scovil, Jim Douillette, Tim Douillette, and Deb Griggs; 15 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A period of visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM at the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom.
