BOW – Richard A. Younginger, 76, of Bow, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 24, 2026, with his family and Naval Brothers in arms by his side. He was born in Philadelphia, PA, on April 16, 1950, the son of the late Albert and Violet (Flanagan) Younginger. Rick grew up in Mount Holly, New Jersey. He graduated from Rancocas Valley Regional High School and upon graduation he enlisted in the United States Navy.

Rick was a musician all his life and played the guitar in numerous bands, including UBG and Bubba & the Bubtones. He loved his family life and found joy in many of the simple pleasures of life. He loved fishing and camping in the woods and was especially fond of animals. His family often affectionately referred to him as “Doctor Dolittle” because of his natural way with animals. Rick loved living in New Hampshire and upon discharge from the Navy his good friend Jeff introduced him to the Lake Sunapee area where he spent the remainder of his life spending time there every summer.

A proud Navy Veteran, Richard served as an Aviation Structural Mechanic Third Class in the United States Navy. He received the Good Conduct Award from the Department of the Navy and was selected as the Outstanding Attack Squadron FORTY THREE Plane Captain of the Month for June 1971. Rick was a sous chef before entering college. Following graduation he spent 35 years as a senior electrical designer.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by his brother, Steven Younginger.

Members of his family include his wife of 47 years, Janice (Rea) Younginger; his daughter, Courtney Younginger of Bow; his son, Derek Younginger and his fiancé, Cassie Bowers, of Manchester; and his brother-in-law, Ron Rea of Manchester and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of Rick's life will be held in early fall at Lake Sunapee.
