MANCHESTER- On Saturday, August 1, 2026, the Reverend Jean M. Lemay was called to his rest and to the glory of the Resurrection by the Lord. He was 77 years old.

Born in Manchester, Fr. Jean was the son of the late Armand A. and Claire L. (Cloutier) Lemay. He was raised and educated in Suncook and was a graduate of Bishop Bradley High School. He attended the University of New Hampshire and studied at Wadham’s Hall Seminary College in Ogdensburg, NY and then completed his ecclesiastical studies at Saint Mary Seminary in Baltimore, Maryland.

After his ordination, Father Lemay served as associate pastor of Guardian Angel Parish, Berlin, Saint George Parish, Manchester, St. Joseph Parish, Salem and St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Manchester. He was appointed Administrator of Saint Matthew Parish, Whitefield and was then named Pastor of Saint Agnes Parish in Ashland. He was later named pastor of Saint Theresa Parish, Manchester and in 2003, was named Chaplain of the Elliot Hospital and the Sisters of Holy Cross in Manchester. On January 4, 2011, Fr. Lemay was named Chaplain of Catholic Medical Center, where he served until his retirement. Father Lemay retired from active ministry in October 2020.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister, Pauline MacArthur and his brother, Paul H. Lemay.

Fr. Jean is survived by his sister, Marie Lemay of Belmont, his brother, Richard Lemay of Florida as well as his nieces, Michele Lemay, Dawn Lemay-Dube and Crystal Southerton and grandnephew, Micah Dube.

Fr. Lemay will lie in repose on Friday, August 7th from 10 to 11 A.M. in St. John the Baptist Church, 10 School St. Allenstown. The Most Rev. Peter A. Libasci, Bishop of Manchester, will preside at the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 A.M. Burial will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery, Allenstown. In lieu of flowers, donations in Fr.
