Obituary

STRATHAM- Mrs. Rachel Anita (Daigle) Rondeau, 81, of Stratham, formerly of Pembroke, passed away unexpectedly at the Exeter Hospital on June 28, 2025. Born in Lewiston, ME, Rachel was the daughter of the late Arthur and Muriel (Houle) Daigle. She was raised and educated in Portsmouth, NH at St. Patrick's Academy and was a resident of Stratham for over 31 years. Rachel was a very strong and independent woman. After her husband passed in 1975, she continued to work full time while raising her three children as a single mother. Prior to her retirement, Rachel was employed as a switchboard operator and later worked as a Corrections Officer for the State of New Hampshire. She later retired in order to raise her granddaughter, Sarah. As Sarah grew, Rachel fostered children and went on to own and operate Little Babes Daycare to occupy her time and share her love with many more children. She took full advantage of her retirement and traveled with her son Richard and granddaughter Sarah. Their many trips included Disney, SeaWorld, Bush Gardens, Carlsbad Caverns, Roswell New Mexico, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls, and Six Flags New Jersey. As well as many day trips to our local theme parks. She loved swimming, like a fish in water. She could stay in the water for hours at a time. Her love for animals was unmeasurable. Her home was always filled with many pets to love. And in her quiet time, she loved paint by numbers and puzzles. Rachel spent her later years spoiling her great granddaughters Hailey, Rachel and Briana. She loved nothing more than to be spending her time with them watching movies, reading, going for walks and the endless snuggles. She was predeceased by her husband, Oswald Rondeau, her son Roger Rondeau and her sister, Jeanne McCartney. Rachel is survived by her children: Richard Rondeau, Kevin Rondeau and Kenneth Rondeau; her grandchildren: Sarah Delisle, Gavin Rondeau and Mary Rondeau; her great grandchildren: Hailey Delisle, Rachel Delisle and Briana Delisle; and her siblings: Richard Daigle, Robert Daigle and Jaqueline Hersey; many nieces and nephews, as well as her lifelong friend Sheila Fogerty. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 8th from 11 A.M. to 12 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. A Funeral Service will follow at 12 P.M. in the Funeral Home.
