Philip (Tom) Couture Jr, 76, passed away November 20 at Granite VNA hospice in Concord, NH following a brief illness.
Born October 27, 1947, in Burlington, VT to Philip and Dorothy (Moody) Couture, he graduated from Rice Memorial High School in 1965. He served in the VT Army National Guard, and worked at General Dynamics as a quality control monitor.
Tom had a great sense of humor and loved spending time with his grandchildren. He also had a love of ice fishing for perch on Lake Champlain and walleye on the Winooski and Lamoille rivers. His legendary fish fries will be missed by all. After retiring, he enjoyed golfing with friends in Vermont and Florida.
He is survived by wife Claire (Shepard) Couture. They celebrated their 54th wedding anniversary on May 31. He also leaves behind his son Philip, III, and daughter Karin (Matt) Shea with grandchildren Sophie and Finnegan Shea. His brothers and sisters, Sherry (Jack) Kenish of Colchester, Randy of Williston, Lori (David) Fitzgerald of St. Albans and Florida, James (Kathy) of Huntington. In-laws, Roland Ferguson of Florida, Bernard (Amie) Shepard of Swanton and Florida, David Shepard of Colchester, Marion (Donny) Chartrand of Charlotte, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents, niece Angie Murray, and in-laws Joanne Murray and Anita Sexton.
A celebration of his life will be held in Vermont during the summer of 2024. Memorial contributions can be made to the Granite VNA Hospice House in Concord, NH.
