Patrick Logan Phillips, 24, transcended his earthly form at home on Saturday, June 24, 2023. He is survived by his mothers, Kimm Phillips and Monica Logan, his sister Maggie Logan-Phillips, grandparents Sharon and Charles Carroll and many extended family members and friends.
Patrick was born on August 5, 1998, and spent the majority of his life in Pembroke, NH. In his early years, Patrick loved going to summer camp, playing catch, going camping, helping to kindle the fire, and watching the Wizard of Oz.
In his younger years he spent a lot of time with his grandparents in the White Mountains playing in the Pemigewasset River and connecting with nature. Pat picked up guitar quickly in his pre-teen years, playing a few gigs with his friends in their band, "Single File Society" in middle school. Although deeply intelligent, Patrick was often an instigator at school and loved to play around with his friends, of which he had many. In his free time is when Patrick's real learning took place, about a revolving door of niche topics that he would find interest in, study deeply, speak casually about to his uncomprehending family over breakfast, and then move on to the next. In 2016, Patrick graduated from Pembroke Academy, having spent time both in the Pembroke school system and at the Academy of Science and Design of Nashua.
Later in life, Patrick struggled with substance addiction. With the support of friends and family, Patrick was able to seek treatment on a few occasions, and was always so proud of himself when he was sober. During this time, he created abstract art using paint markers on canvases, his guitar cases, his clothes, and anything else he felt was an adequate slate.
After being diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in 2020, Patrick found it especially difficult to find the will to take care of himself. Although struggling with his health, he continued to form bonds with new friends with ease, master new songs on the guitar, take up poetry-writing, hold a job at Grunts Move Junk moving company, and contemplate philosophy, morality, and religion in his free time.
Patrick will be remembered for his root beer barrel eyes, his quick and edgy wit, his love for music (especially the Grateful Dead), and the way he treated others who were facing battles of their own with nonjudgement and kindness.
While Patrick's spirit is already off to new adventures in the next realm, his body will be interned at Buck Street Cemetery in Pembroke, NH with a private family ceremony. All are invited to attend his Celebration of Life which will take place on his 25 birthday, Saturday August 5, at Memorial Field Pavilion, Pembroke, NH, memories will be shared from 11AM-1PM and refreshments will be served from 1PM-3PM. Attendees are encouraged to bring memories to share, and dress in color to reflect Patrick's colorful life.
