Pembroke – Owen G. Gaskell, 84, of Pembroke; passed away on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, following a period of declining health with family by his side.

He was born on July 8, 1942, in Savannah, GA; son of the late Owen W. and Mary E. (Gay) Gaskell. Owen was educated in the local schools but in 1959 at the young age of 17 he enlisted in the United States Army. Owen was proud to serve his country in the 101st Airborne Division.

After his military service, he returned to high school earning his diploma, becoming the oldest graduate from Pembroke Academy. Owen loved serving his community, he spent 28 years in Law Enforcement, first as a Deputy Sheriff at Bannock County Sheriffs Office in Pocatello, ID and later as a Lieutenant in charge of the detective division for Hooksett Police Department in NH.

Owen enjoyed helping and supporting others, from making posters and cheering on the local sports teams, taking in stray animals, and helping those in need. Owen had a place in his heart for everyone, he didn’t like watching others struggle; if you needed clothes, food, or money he found a way to help.

Owen is survived by his daughter Tracey and husband Russell Waldron, and their children Zakkery & Joshua of Oregon; his son Gary and wife Jonna Gaskell, and their children Jacob, wife Alise and their son Easton of New Hampshire, & Madison Gaskell and fiancé Timothy Pitman of New Hampshire; his stepson Brandon and wife Shelli Love and their children of Idaho; siblings Vern Gaskell, Marie Isabelle, and Evalyn Gaskell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and longtime friend Kathleen Owens Gaskell.

In accordance with Owen’s wishes, services will be private. Owen will be interred at the NH State Veterans Cemetery. In Lieu of flowers, donations may be made to MCAC (Merrimack County Advocacy Center) 163 North Main Street, STE 101, Concord, NH 03301.
