PENACOOK – Noella Rose Gregoire, 82, of Penacook, formerly of Barnstead where she resided for over 50 years, passed away at Merrimack County Nursing Home on Thursday, October 22, 2026. Born in Rochester on December 25, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Gloriette (St. Germaine) Boucher.
Noella graduated from St. Mary’s Academy in 1961 and continued her education at McIntosh College in 1963. She met the love of her life, David, in 1957, and they were married on October 24, 1964.
Noella Gregoire will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, her creative spirit, and her remarkable ability to make every holiday and special occasion feel magical. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother and great-grandmother, and a friend to many. Throughout her life, Noella found joy in bringing people together, giving to others, and creating cherished memories that will live on for generations.
Throughout her working years, Noella dedicated herself to caring for others and serving her community. She owned and operated a daycare for more than 12 years. She later worked at Rich’s Department Store in Concord, where she remained a dedicated employee until the store closed its doors in 1996.
One of Noella’s most treasured traditions was spending summers at Dolly Copp Campground in the White Mountains with her children. The campground held a special place in the family’s heart, as her husband, David, had spent his own childhood summers there. Today, that tradition continues, as Noella’s children bring their own children and grandchildren to Dolly Copp, keeping the family connection to this special place alive across generations.
Noella had a creative and resourceful nature and especially enjoyed crafting and baking. Affectionately known as a bit of a pack rat, she had a knack for holding on to things, knowing that someday they might come in handy. Her thoughtfulness and generosity were perhaps most evident during the holidays, which she loved with all her heart. Noella took great pride in making sure everyone received a gift and went out of her way to make the season special for her family and those around her. Her giving spirit never faded, even during her time in the nursing home, when she made sure her beloved husband, David, received a birthday gift. It was a simple but beautiful reflection of the love and thoughtfulness that defined her.
Noella was also an active member of the Barnstead PTO and one of the founding memebers of the Barnstead Variety show, which ran on for decades. She was a passionate supporter of the arts, particularly theater and the Pittsfield Players. She appreciated the joy and community that theater brought to people and was always eager to support its efforts.
Her faith was another important part of her life. Noella was a parishioner of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church for two decades, having previously attended Our Lady of Lourdes and Christ the King Parish. At Immaculate Heart of Mary, she founded Senior Day, demonstrating her commitment to creating opportunities for connection and fellowship among older members of the community. Her compassion extended beyond the church, as she volunteered her time visiting elderly residents in nursing homes, including Epsom Manor.
Family and community were always at the center of Noella’s life. When her sons were young, she was deeply involved in Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts. Noella also holds a special place in Concord Hospital’s history as the mother of the first set of triplets born there, an extraordinary milestone that became part of her family’s story.
Above all, Noella will be remembered for the love she gave so freely. Whether through a homemade baked treat, a handmade craft, a carefully chosen gift, a visit to someone in need, or a holiday celebration filled with warmth, she had a way of making people feel remembered and cared for. She believed that no one should be left out, especially during the holidays, and she worked tirelessly to ensure that everyone around her felt included.
In addition to her parents, Noella was predeceased by her son, David Gregoire, Jr., who died in infancy.
Members of her family include her husband of 62 years, David A. Gregoire of Concord; sons, Phillip Gregoire his spouse Tonya, and Jeffrey Crowell-Gregoire his spouse Joshua; daughters, Christina Stock her spouse Roger, Jacquline Hanna, and Jennifer Gregoire her partner Steve Duarte ; sister, Lolly Debois her spouse Frank; 16 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St., Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish on Friday, October 30, 2026, at 10:30 a.m., followed by a committal service at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery at 12:30 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Noella’s honor to Care Women’s Center, 13 West St., Concord.
