BRYSON CITY - Nancy Ruais, 74, of Bryson City, North Carolina, passed away on October 31, 2022 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Raymond Ruais, her parents, Murielle and John (Jack) Wilson and her older brother, Robert Wilson. She leaves behind her daughter, Renee Ruais; son, Raymond Ruais; grandson, Bradyn Ruais, Tina Jones; granddaughter, Jordyn Brown and husband, Aaron Brown; great-grandsons, Gavin, Bruce and Lawson; her brothers, Steven and Richard Wilson; many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and cherished friends.
Nancy grew up in Lawrence, Massachusetts where she was a competitive roller skater along with her brother, Robert. She married the love of her life, Ray on October 22, 1967. They moved to New York City for a few years when the children were very young, but soon settled down in Vermont where she was an avid gardener and enjoyed harvesting and canning vegetables. She went to work for IBM and relocated with Ray multiple times, living in Houston, TX, Manassas, VA, and Austin, TX. Nancy was very proud of her career at IBM. She was a manufacturing manager where she took a great interest in her employees and helped many with advancing their careers.
After her career with IBM ended, Nancy left Austin in search of work and after a short stay in Florida, ended up in Fletcher, NC. There she worked for Selee Corporation until she retired. After retiring, she moved to Bryson City to be close to her young grandson Bradyn. While there, she obtained her Real Estate license and assisted son, Raymond with his startup property management and real estate business.
