Pittsfield – Mary Elizabeth (Roberts) Collins, 85, of Pittsfield, formerly of Peabody, MA, passed away suddenly on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Concord Hospital.

She was born on September 2, 1939, in Chelsea, MA, daughter of the late Lester and Lillian (Budd) Roberts.

Mary was raised and educated in Chelsea and Peabody, MA. She worked her whole life; her most memorable jobs were working at McCord Winn Textron for over 7 years, “running the line.” As well as working at the Concord Walmart for 13 years, ending her career there. She made many friends and truly enjoyed her work.

Mary was affectionately known by everyone as “Gram.” She loved reading, concerts, bowling, bingo and watching her grandchildren’s sports games, with her favorites being football and soccer. She also enjoyed attending the senior center in Pittsfield. Her most memorable trip was going to Graceland! Mary cherished time spent with her family and friends and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter, Tammy Marcheterre; sisters, Jean McKinley and Laurel Rogers; and brother, Lester “Bobby” Roberts.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert Small and his wife, Gloria of Pittsfield, NH, Daniel Small and his wife, Lucille of West Peru, ME and Thomas Small of Salem, MA; 11 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, on his way this summer; and her brother, Clifford Roberts of Florida.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, May 24th, from 12:00-2:00PM with a service starting at 1:00PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom, NH 03234.

Mary’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone at the senior center who cared for and supported Mary during her time there, she truly treasured all the wonderful friends and memories she made while attending.
