Obituary

Concord – Marilyn B. Ross; 96, of Concord, formerly of Pembroke, passed away on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Presidential Oaks in Concord, following a period of declining health. She was born on April 25, 1929, in Natick, MA; daughter of J. Herbert and Marie (Adams) Good. For over 30 years Marilyn was employed at Concord Hospital, starting as a secretary and working her way up to Director of Radiology at her time of retirement. Marilyn believed in staying busy and supporting family, she held the position of Den Mother when her boys were in the Cub Scouts, she was an active member of the Pembroke Academy Booster Club as well as the President of the Pembroke PTA. She and her husband Eddie enjoyed attending sporting events for their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, even continuing to attend Pembroke Academy sporting events after their children had graduated. They also enjoyed following the Boston Red Sox, Celtics and attended UNH Hockey games for many years with their sons. Marilyn was also very involved in her community. She and her husband were named Volunteers of the year in 2013 for their efforts with many fundraising events for Breathe NH. Marilyn led smoking cessation classes at Concord Hospital for many years; she was the leader of a committee of volunteers helping to raise funds for the construction of the current town library in Pembroke and for those efforts was named Citizen of the year for the Town of Pembroke in 2001. Giving of her time didn't end there, she was the longtime Superintendent of Sunday School for the Pembroke Congregational Church and later served on its Board of Deacons and Deaconesses. When not serving her community, Marilyn was a gifted and self-taught artist, cross stitcher and enjoyed completing both crossword and jigsaw puzzles. An avid hiker, she completed all 48 4,000 footers in NH, loved to go camping, even completing two cross-country camping trips with her family and traveling with her husband, family and friends. She particularly enjoyed Europe, visiting Scotland 5 times, the Middle East and family trips to Hawaii, Bermuda and Alaska. Popular annual events included attending the Scottish Highland Games in Lincoln, NH and hosting her infamous Kentucky Derby Parties. In addition, she enjoyed a good round of golf with family and friends at Plausawa Valley Country Club. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edwards B. Ross in 2018, her brother, Philip C. Good and his wife Lorraine. She is survived by her sons, Douglas B. Ross and his wife Sheila of Concord and James L. Ross and his wife Laura of Pembroke, two granddaughters, Charity Ross and her partner Kevin Shields of Concord and Amy Moore and her husband Marc of Concord, Nicholas Karwocki and his wife Danielle of Boscawen, Jennifer Gilbert and her husband, Ryan of Belmont; great grandchildren, Hannah, Douglas, Jaxon, Lucy, Emilee, Madeline, Damon and Jocelyn; nephews, Jeffrey and John Good, Emmett Ross, Norman Ross as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins. Marilyn's family would like to express its gratitude to the staffs of The Birches at Concord, Presidential Oaks, Granite VNA and Concord Hospital for the loving and supportive care she received over the past several years. Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 30, 2025, from 4PM-6PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke. A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, at 11AM at the Pembroke Congregational Church, 301 Pembroke Street, Pembroke. Following a light reception interment will be at the NH State Veterans Cemetery in Boscawen at 3PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her memory to the Friends of the Pembroke Town Library, 313 Pembroke Street, Pembroke, NH 03275.
