Margery (Marge) Wolcott, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away suddenly but peacefully in her sleep on Monday, March 3rd, in Barnstead, New Hampshire. She was a woman of eclectic spirit, known for her love of family and friends, her passion for gardening, and her gentle affection for animals, particularly cats.
Raised in Darien, Connecticut, Marge fell in love with Jon Wolcott when they were young. Marge and Jon traveled cross country looking for a simpler life and ended up in Barnstead NH where they built their life. They transformed a one-bedroom old schoolhouse into a beautiful home, raising their three children. Marge and Jon created a magical childhood for their children, filled with outdoor adventures in their backyard that created lasting memories. They explored the woods, looked for beaver sticks, ice skated on frozen ponds, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of nature. Marge and Jon loved animals and had chickens, bunnies, dogs, and cats and even raised baby orphaned squirrels and robins. Margery's love for gardening flourished in Barnstead, where she created an outdoor oasis for their family in the backyard.
In her 30s, as her children grew more independent, Marge began a fulfilling career at Millican's Wholesale Nursery. She found joy in her work and cultivated deep friendships with her colleagues, who became a second family to her. Her warm and approachable nature made her a cherished friend to many co-workers over the years.
Marge cherished her family, maintaining close ties with her siblings in Connecticut, especially her brother Rodney, with whom she shared countless heartfelt conversations. She also loved spending time with her grandchildren, especially her oldest grandson, Caleb, whom she looked after often when he was younger, enjoying walks in the woods and playing with their beloved cats.
She will be remembered for her kind heart, her love of nature, and the lasting impact she made on the lives of those around her.
Marge is survived by her three children Sarah Trask, Maggie Wolcott, and Benjamin Wolcott, her brother, Rodney Klucik, her brother Tommy Klucik, her sister Dorothea McCue, and her grandchildren Caleb Wolcott, Olivia Trask, Lana Trask, Lilah Trask, and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Jonathan Wolcott.
