Allenstown – Leon C. Frechette, 87, of Allenstown, passed away following a period of declining health on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at The Birches, Concord, NH. He was a devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother.
Leon was born on July 2, 1939, in Conway, the last living son of Arthur and Irene (Tousaint) Frechette. He was educated in the local schools, a graduate of Kennett High School in Conway, later furthering his education at Keene State College, earning a bachelor’s in education. Leon was employed for over 35 years with Pembroke Academy, teaching woodworking, coaching basketball and teaching drivers’ education.
While still in High School, Leon received a recruiter letter from a Boston Red Sox Scout to join the team. He was a devoted Red Sox fan with more memorabilia than room for it. He spent many years coaching his sons' little league teams and later in life enjoyed traveling. He was a longtime communicant of St. John the Baptist Church.
Besides his parents, Leon was predeceased by his wife Carol (Dietlein) Frechette in 2003, as well as his siblings, Edgar, Freddy, Roger and Maurice Frechette and Rita Garland.
He is survived by his fiancé, Mary Burbank of Pembroke, his children, Tedd M. Frechette and his partner, Pamela Sessler of Hampstead, Dean K. Frechette and his partner Kate Bradley of Vieques, PR, Lynn E. Frechette and her partner, Michael McClure of Allenstown and Scot A. Frechette and his partner, Kristin McAllister of Allenstown, three grandchildren, Alyssa C. Fabian and her husband Brian, Julia K. Frechette and her fiancé, Aaron Gaudette and Brian C. Frechette and his partner, Maggie Dougan as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to give a special thank you to the aides and nurses at the birches who treated him like family.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, from 5PM-7PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main Street, Pembroke. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at 10AM in St. John the Baptist Church, Allenstown. Interment will follow at St. John the Baptist Cemetery, River Road, Allenstown. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to St. John the Baptist Church, 10 School Street, Allenstown or to Granite VNA, 30 Pillsbury Street, Concord, NH 03301.
