PEMBROKE- Mr. Leo A. Lavin, III, 66, of Pembroke, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in Concord Hospital on June 24, 2024 after a long period of declining health.
A lifelong resident of Pembroke, Leo was the son of Marlene Fritz and her husband Arthur of Penacook and the late Leo A. Lavin, Jr. He was raised and educated in Pembroke and was a graduate of Pembroke Academy.
Leo was a longtime employee of Everett J. Prescott, Inc. in Concord, having recently celebrated his 45th anniversary. He held many positions throughout his long career, most recently as an inside marketing representative.
An avid fisherman, Leo also enjoyed watching baseball, especially the Red Sox. He was known to attend many of his grandchildren's baseball, softball and basketball games. He relished in spoiling his grandchildren with ice cream and lawnmower rides. He also cherished the quiet times spent around the campfires enjoying marshmallows.
In addition to his father, he was predeceased by his brother, John Lavin and his father-in-law, Paul Grandmaison.
In addition to his mother, Leo is survived by his beloved wife, Susan (Grandmaison) Lavin, with whom he would have shared 45 years of marriage on August 11th. He is also survived by his two sons: Leo Lavin, IV and his wife Janelle (Gagnon) Lavin of Concord and Craig Lavin of Pembroke; his beloved grandchildren: Ava Lavin, Lauren Cotnoir and Leo Lavin, V.; his mother-in-law, Mary Louise Grandmaison of Pembroke; aunts and an uncle as well as countless nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws, neighbors and friends.
Leo's family wishes to thank the entire staff of Concord Hospital for their unwavering support and compassion to Leo during his numerous stays.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 11th from 5 to 7 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home, 167 Main St. in Pembroke. In accordance with Leo's wishes, burial will be private and take place at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorial contributions be made in the name of Leo A. Lavin, III to support the Grateful Heart Program at Concord Hospital.
