Obituary

EPSOM - Leland F. Briggs, 79, of Epsom, passed away at home surrounded by his family on Friday, July 7, 2023. Born on December 31, 1943 in Manchester, he was the son of the late Albert J. and Eleanor F. (Lear) Briggs. Leland was educated in the local schools and a graduate of Pembroke Academy, Class of 1963. He went on to proudly serve his country in the United States Air Force working on Air Craft Carriers for the next four years, continuing his military service in the Guard and serving at Pease for 5 years before his honorable discharge. Leland was a hard worker but he also knew how to enjoy life, he traveled all over supporting his daughters with their horse shows, going camping and time with the family in York Beach every year, taking drives in his 1963 Chevy Impala and watching the birds while enjoying his morning coffee and the company of his Jack Russell, Ms. Willow. Leland was a licensed electrician and he worked for many years with Huckins Oil Company doing plumbing and heating before going into business for himself with Lee's Plumbing and Heating. He enjoyed listening to music, mostly 70's classic rock of the Beatles, Beach Boys and Elvis. Leland also worked part-time as a police officer for the Town of Epsom for four years. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his son, Michael L. Briggs and a brother, Ronald Briggs. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Maryann (Fisher) Briggs of Epsom, daughters, Tracie Davison and her husband Rick of Chichester, Melisa Briggs of Epsom, Sarah Richard and her husband Kyle of Epsom, grandchildren, Brian, Mitchell, Jordan and Myles as well as nieces, a nephew and cousins. Calling hours will be held on Sunday, July 16, 2023 from 11AM-1PM at the Roan Family Funeral Home - Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway, Epsom. Interment will take place privately with the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Pope Memorial SPCA, 94 Silk Farm Road, Concord, NH 03301.
