Obituary

Epsom – Kenneth C. Walker Jr., almost 97 years old, joined Christ the Savior in Heaven on April 5, 2025, in the presence of many family members at his bedside. He was married for 74 years to his loving wife, Betty Lou, whom he met at the age of 10, whilst camping with their respective parents at White Lake State Park in Tamworth, NH. They continued to meet every year, exchanging letters through courtship, until their marriage in 1950. They had three daughters, one each year; Sherry, Dale and Linda. Additionally, 18 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren left to live on as his legacy. Ken was born and raised in Concord, NH and graduated from Concord High School. His favorite job was as a milkman for "Stumpy Sargeant." He then moved on to work at NH Savings Bank and finally New England Telephone as a "Senior Forecaster" until his retirement at age 56. He was the eldest of 3 boys, with his middle brother, Don, pre-deceasing him, and younger brother, Douglas (Sharyn) currently living in the family home. There are numerous nieces and nephews from both sides of the family and FAMILY was very important to him. Ken Jr. was interested in aviation at an early age and became a small plane pilot at the young age of 19. He went on to be a part of the Concord Flying Club, and eventually bought a 1948 Cessna Tail Dragger, which he enjoyed for twenty years. Ken enjoyed loner sports such as horseback riding in the adjacent dirt road with his various dogs. He skied, skated, swam, waterskied, and enjoyed re-loading ammo for his variety of guns, and had a shooting range in the back field. Ken loved his home, which he transformed from no electricity, plumbing or heat, into a showcase of a home for his family. He did most of the work himself with instruction from talented friends. At the age of 79, he was shingling the newly built Epsom Bible Church. Following his retirement, Ken and Betty traveled throughout the United States and became snowbirds in their later years. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he was loved and considered a hero and will continue to live on in the hearts of all those that held close to him and loved him dearly. There will be a celebration of life held at the convenience of the family. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel in Epsom is assisting the family with arrangements.
