Katharine "Kay" Kennedy, 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2024 with family by her side.
Kay was born in Deering, NH and raised in New Boston, NH until after marriage, where she continued to live in the New England area for several years. The family eventually moved to Chittenango, NY where she lived for 40 years before returning to NH.
Kay was the oldest daughter of eight children and took on the role of caregiver and matriarch at an early age, which lasted throughout her lifetime. She was the glue that kept the family close. She enjoyed playing golf with friends and family at Kanon Valley and playing cards. She was known for her love for her family and her cooking, including the best chocolate chip cookies.
She is survived by her four children: Randy Kennedy (Linda) of Oneida, NY, Jacqueline Whalen (John) of Chittenango, NY, Kerry Kennedy (Kristen) of Dover, NH, Kevin Kennedy of Chichester, NH; her three siblings: Andi Card Day, Jane Wall, Dean card; her 13 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her spouse of 47 years: Richard Kennedy; her two sons: Larry Kennedy and Bruce Kennedy; her three brothers: Don Card, Richard Card, Robert Card; and her sister: Joan Tower.
Calling hours will be held at the First Congregational Church, 24 Main St. in Pittsfield, NH on Sunday, September 8, 2024 from 2pm - 4pm. A church service will take place at 4pm with a brief reception after the service. A celebration of life will be held at Kanon Valley Country Club, 8623 Lake Road, Oneida, NY on Saturday, September 14, 2024 at 3pm. Burial will be private.
