Obituary

CONCORD – Joanne Marie (Hawkins) Daufen, 68, of Concord, passed away peacefully with her loving family by her side on Friday, October 2, 2026, at the Granite VNA Hospice House after suffering a stroke. In a touching connection between mother and daughter, Joanne passed away on the same day as her beloved mother, Isabel.

Born on August 8, 1958, in Lincoln, ME, she was the daughter of the late James and Isabel (Dicker) Hawkins. Joanne was raised in Lincoln and was a 1976 graduate of Mattanawcook Academy. After graduation, she spent two years in Fort Collins, CO, with her dear cousin, Susan Halley, enjoying a change of scenery and the opportunity to explore. She eventually returned to New England and settled in Manchester, NH, to be closer to her family.

Joanne worked for NH Insurance for several years before marrying and beginning her family. She later moved to Ellwood City, PA, where she raised her children and enjoyed being closer to extended family. In 2001, she returned to New Hampshire and settled in Epsom. The following year, Joanne began her career with NFI North as an executive assistant. She remained with NFI North for more than two decades, where she was valued for her dedication and the relationships she built with those around her.

Joanne enjoyed reading, particularly romance novels and mysteries, and she was always ready for an adventure. She loved to travel and cherished the many trips she took with her daughter, Brittany, especially their favorite excursions to Disney and Europe. Joanne also treasured time with her family and friends. She will be remembered as loving, having a big heart, and always being happy.

Joanne is survived by her children, Brian Daufen of Epsom, NH, and Brittany Daufen of Concord, NH; her brother, John Hawkins and his wife, Lisa, of Lincoln, ME; her nieces, Jordynne Thompson and her husband, Andrew “Grim,” and Taylor Hawkins; her nephew, Brady Hawkins and his wife, Katelyn; Brittany’s best friend, Deanna MacNaughton, and her son, Brody, who were like a daughter and grandson to her; and many other family members and loved ones.

There are no services at this time. Joanne will be laid to rest with her family at Park Street Cemetery in Lincoln, ME, at a later date. Please consider a donation in Joanne’s memory to the American Heart Association. The Roan Family Funeral Home – Still Oaks Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
