Obituary

PEMBROKE - Jojo Bernier, age 62, of Pembroke, NH, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 21, 2025. Born in Manchester on January 1, 1963, the daughter of the late Donald and Lorraine (Tassis) Rousseau. Jojo had a heart devoted to animals and rescued many throughout her life. Every animal she cared for was a rescue, and she never turned one away. She leaves behind her beloved dogs, Stanley and Bubba J. Jojo worked for 18 years at Makris Seafood & Steak House in Concord, NH, where she was one of the most cherished servers. Guests regularly requested her section, and she was loved by both customers and coworkers For four years, Jojo worked in the cafeteria at Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU). She became a beloved presence to students, attending hockey, basketball, and baseball games, cheering on the athletes, and often bringing homemade cookies and brownies. The students all knew Jojo, and they loved her. Jojo had a deep love for the ocean and found peace in its beauty. Sunrise and sunset by the water brought her joy and comfort, and the sound of the waves was a place where her heart felt at home. She is survived by her husband, David Bernier; her dogs, Stanley and Bubba J; siblings, Steve, Cookie, Richard, Donald, Willie, Albie, Raymond, Bobby, John, Jacques, Bernadette, Jacqueline, and Germaine; as well as Butchy Young and Raymond Young, along with many extended family members, friends, coworkers, and students. Jojo will be remembered for her generous heart, her love for animals, and her gentle spirit that mirrored the calm and beauty of the ocean she cherished.
