MANCHESTER- Joan Frances (Perry) Ayer, 81, died April 18, 2022 after a period of failing health.
Born September 11, 1940 in Brentwood, NH, she was the daughter of Arthur and Viola (Steeves) Perry and grew up in Candia, NH. Her employment history began caring for many children in a home daycare. She worked for many years at Dorson and Fletcher shoe manufacturer, and then in retail until she retired in 2007.
Joan was best known for her spunky personality and her love for cooking. If you knew Joan, she probably cooked for you at some point. She loved to grow a garden, canned her own vegetables and no matter where she lived, there was a patch of dirt or a pot with vegetables growing.
She was predeceased by her husband of 32 years, Russell (Rusty) Ayer; sisters, Anita Merrill and Carol Perry; brothers, Wayne and Kenneth Perry and stepsons, Kevin Ayer and Brian Ayer.
She is survived by her two daughters: Laura Nash and her husband Larry of Eaton, NH and Diane Desmarais and her husband Bob of Goffstown, NH; four grandchildren: Sarah Desmarais, Jake Desmarais, Ashleigh Nash and Daniel Nash; stepsons, Robert (Bobby) Ayer and Chris Ayer; sisters, Deanna Demeritt, Bonnie Walker and Vicki Perry; and several nieces and nephews.
Calling Hours will be held on Saturday, April 23rd from 10 A.M. to 12 P.M. in The Roan Family Funeral Home - Still Oaks Chapel, 1217 Suncook Valley Highway in Epsom.
